11.13.08 - Behind by 450 Push-Ups - Will continue to get caught up by overachieving when possible.

Ways to make this fun:

- Pushup for every pt your football team scores as they score them... 7 the first touchdown, 14 the next touchdown, etc.  If you are a chiefs fan, might want to do 2 pushups for every pt they score.  You can also do them for your fantasy football team.

Who has more ideas?  Post em up...

11.05.08 - JK Response to 'JB Election Day Post'

11.05.08 (backdated)

JB- great post all around, and solid comments on the election. I actually feel the same way. Even though "my" guy didn't win, I feel good about the state/direction/progress of our nation and the strong statement made for democracy and free society.

I am 300 push-ups behind, but have now completed 2 days (and 1 rest day) of cross-fit workouts. Actually, the later is the reason for being behind in push-ups. I have quickly and easily become addicted to crossfit. In fact, after a very long day yesterday in Atlanta and landing in a raining KC at 8:00 PM, I went straight to the gym to complete the workout (not something that I would have even considered without crossfit). It was enjoyable and at an intensity level in which there was no way to do any pushups after. I'll get caught up with the group soon, have to fight through the pain and soreness.

Push Up Challege D2 & D3

I completed most of D2 push ups while creating this blog. Nothing too terrible. I was not too sore at time.

I checked the tracking board for the push up challenge and was pleasantly surprised!! Without getting an exact count it appeared to be about thirty people signed up. Thus far everyone is keeping up. I sense next week is when we will start losing some people. Hopefully as a group we can keep everyone motivated to make it through.

In the Army we always said "TWO WEEKS" every time we had a major change. The first two weeks are the thoroughest. We tried to do nothing more than make it two weeks. 2 weeks- 14 days-335 hours-20,160 minutes was the goal. Strangley at the end of the two weeks everything seemed to have its place. Thinking back through my life it seems to hold true. Anytime some sort of change occurs in my life it takes me about two weeks to get used to it. In Iraq we would get uprooted and moved a lot, it was extremely frustrating at the time but after about two weeks a routine would be set and it would be "ok", Now my schedule rotates every three months the "two week" rule still works. When I started really working out the first two weeks were definitely the toughest. Anyone else have any thoughts on the two weeks rule? post a comment I would like to know if it is about the same for everyone.....

I found out on D3 that doing all the push ups at one time is much harder. D3 push ups were done as a part of my crossfit workout. WOW today I am feeling the pain!!!!!!!

The last two crossfit workouts had a lot of pull ups involved. I do not know if I pulled a muscle in my neck or left shoulder but it hurts!!! My chest and triceps are a little sore. Hopefully if I break up the pushups sets it will not be as bad.

Cross fit workout for today is: four rounds of running a 400 meter and 50 squats.

For the first time since the days in the Army I am going to get a flu shot. I have heard that they can make you a little sick so hopefully that does not happen. The City is paying for it so I figured "what the hell". I will let you know if I get sick for sure.

Before work today, I am going to try and head out to Olathe and go to Affordable Supplements. Affordable Supplements is by far the best place I have found to by supplements. GNC is way too expensive. Affordable Supplements also has a web site affordablesupplements.com it has the same products as the store and is a little less expensive. I waited to long to order so I have to make the trek to Olathe KS. BOOOO suburbs!!

Definitely random post today!!!

Begining the "Push Up Challenge" on Election Day

The push up challenge is 150 push ups for 50 days.

Day 1 was yesterday 11-04-08 (Election Day). I completed my push ups watching the results come in for the elections.
I woke up a little sore today to President Elect Obama giving his acceptance speech and the news that light rail did not pass in KC. Obama's speech was somewhat inspiring and I hope my questions about his presidency are answered in a good way. I will embrace him as our new president and pray he makes the right decisions.

Thinking back on the election, I have even more love for our great Nation. Being a veteran and a public servant I feel I am a fairly patriotic citizen. While standing in line a few days ago to vote, I was able to see a legitimate concern for our nation on every persons face. For some reason it took the anxiety out of me making the right decision on my voting selections. I knew our great Nation would make the right decision. Earlier this week I helped out a little bit with a campaign my cousin works for. "Yes" I was the annoying person making phone calls. I actually made 326 of them. I was hung up on numerous times; however, I was able to speak with a lot of people who were definitely not afraid to express their concerns to a stranger on the other end of the phone line. Again, I was able to witness first hand the wonderful power of freedom.

I do not want to set the tone of this blog as being political. It is supposed to be a workout blog but for some reason this is what I was thinking about while counting out my pushups. I am definitely not usually this windy. I am know for writing not enough than too much.

Feel free to just post you did 150 pushups that day but if you want to post and start a discussion on some other topic or thought feel free. Obviously I did!!

FYI I completed 100 pushups while writing this post. Only 50 more, a cross fit workout, and 8.25 hours of work left for today!!
